A record 1,200 patients treated with a gamma knife in 2020
Despite a number of operational limitations related to the covid-19 epidemic, we continue to provide our patients with the best possible care. In the department of stereotactic and radiation neurosurgery, we treated 1,200 patients in 2020, which is a record number in the 28-year history of the department. In addition, last year we significantly renewed the "GammaPlan" planning software and expanded it with the "Lightning" module.
Our workplace first participated in the testing of the alpha version of this software, and from August 2020 we became one of the first workplaces in the world to start using it in clinical practice. This planning software not only significantly speeded up procedure planning, but also made it possible to shorten the irradiation time and improve treatment parameters.
